God Uses the Weak and Broken to Display His Power

Broken things are not celebrated in our society. They are fixed or thrown broken-chair away. Usually tossing for a new model is what happens…it’s much easier. I am glad that God is not like that. He not only fixes the broken areas of our hearts and lives, but He redeems anything that was broken to be an instrument or vessel that He can display His power through. This gives me hope.

I hope in the truth that though I am weak, He is strong. I hope in the truth, that though I don’t know which way to take, He will guide me. I hope in the truth, that when I don’t know what to say, He will speak through me. I hope in the truth, that when I am broken, He will comfort me and then use the broken place to help another wounded person. I hope in the truth that my life experience is by design, and that God himself, through Christ, redeems all the pain for His purpose. Yes, God uses weak and broken things to display how big He really is.

Today’s Truth: 1 Corinthians 1:17,20,25,27,29,31

“…not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. ”

“Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?”

“For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.”

“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things, and the things that are not, to nullify the things that sre, so that no one may boast before him. it is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God, that is, our righteousness, holiness, and redemption. Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.”

Have you been depending on your own wisdom, strength or power?
Do you try your hardest to be your best “self” and keep re-inventing?
Have you ever thought of stopping the insanity of “self strength” and coming to God, broken pieces, weakness and each part of who you really are?
Can you start today by seeing God’s Word says that he indeed chooses and uses the weak things?

It is admittedly a shift in our human reasoning to think of God being strong in the weak. But, if you will admit your weaknesses, even to yourself , and trust him to be your strength, you will be amazed at what happens.

Today, think about the areas where you are self-fueled and ask God to make that area fueled by His Spirit instead.

Today’s Prayer

Lord, your words, wisdom and direction is different that the culture I live in, the things I was taught growing up, and even the things sometimes relayed in Christian circles. It’s easy to try to make myself strong for you, in my own strength. But, I see that you have no interest in human strength. I am asking you today to strengthen me from within, broken parts and all. I love you Lord.
