What if God really DOES restores lives?

I am blessed to be the proud mother of a new baby…wild-book-cover

No, not a real baby…a book baby. This new book baby has been named, A Different Kind of Wild, but I just call it Wild for short. Wild stands for Women In Life-Long Development and is encouraging women to embrace the process of life in the Spirit rather than racing towards self-perfection. And, though the book sounds like it’s fun…it really is a charge to more of a deeper life. In the book Deeper, the charge was to Come to Him and embrace His love for us. Now in Wild, the charge is to Follow Him every day into the life He has planned for us to live.

It is my prayer that women are drawn into a fresh desire to Live Up in the power of God’s Spirit, Live Up in Faith, and Live Up in Truth. This Living UP is a wildly different way to live than most of us are used to. I want to live in this different kind of wild faith…will you join me?

Today’s Truth: Psalm 138:8

“The Lord will perfect that which concerns me.”

It is amazing to me that God is always working in our lives. He is perfecting, shaping and completing us. This verse has one very important word…WILL. God WILL take care of us. God WILL watch over all that concerns us. God WILL…His word assures us of this.

I just returned from the International Christian Resellers Show in Denver, Colorado, where I signed copies of the new baby. I also was excited to see a display featuring the Design4Living Bible Studies and an advertisement for the new DVD format to go with those studies.  This recent trip was a reminder of God’s Grace and God being WILLING to do His work of restoration in our lives.

Let me tell you….The fact that I am writing books and studies for women is NOT about me. I, in myself, have nothing to offer that will make much of a difference. But God did such a work of restoration in the deepest parts of me over the past 20 years that I just want women to understand the difference between surface Christianity and being filled with His love, presence and truth.

I am not talking perfection here…I am talking about being filled with Him and being changed daily. For the record, I do not have it together, and realize I never will. But, I am enjoying the journey of growth and discovery.

Twenty years ago I was in such a state of brokenness and I could have never imagined how God would use one broken and lost Christian woman. The grace of God restores beyond our scope of understanding. I just know this…God is a God of forgiveness, healing, and redemption.  I pray that you will believe that He is at work in your life this very minute too. What is it in your life today that has you in need of believing, God WILL? Take that very care and stand on the Truth that God WILL!

Hope you enjoy the pictures!IMG_1462

Here’s the ” Wild”  review from Christian Retailers July 2009

“Too often as Christian women, we tend to talk the talk and forget the joy in waling the walk. Alsdorf encourages readers to become W.I.L.D. ( Women in lifelong development). Jesus has exciting adventurous plans for you. Don’t be afraid to take His hand and rely on  Him to lead you on the greatest journey of your life. Alsdorf is passionate in her conviction that we were “born to surrender to the process of the spirit working in us”. Accept the ordinary and extraordinary challenges everyday life throws at us with joy and anticipation. What an adventure! How can we possibly lose? Our leader is the greatest of all time: Jesus Christ. as we step outside the stale confinement of our comfort zone of perfection and cultural acceptance into the clear, cool air of self acceptance and renewed faith, we realize this is how it was meant to be, letting to and letting Jesus take the wheel. I highly recommend this book to women of all ages who yearn to live on the W.I.L.D. side. ( Connie Meier, Christian Retailers Magazine JulyIMG_1490 IMG_1428200IMG_14339)

Living Like I’m Loved

Posted to: What if?, spiritual growth

It’s easy to live like I’m on my own, unloved, or never enough. gods-love1Unfortunately as a woman today, the idea of being not enough is pretty common. Each of us are affected by images, the media, our belief system, and the words that we say to ourselves or that others say to us.  Our entire life and culture act as a mirror, that is often not accurate.

When we believe we are never enough, we assume that we are also held to that negative standard by God. This insecurity about His love for us, takes insecurity to a whole other level. Satan moves on this opportunity and desires nothing more to devour us in any way he can. If he can get us to think we are alone in this world, then he will have won the battle over us. Soon, while believing we are alone, we will live under the weight of life, rather than in the freedom that can come from knowing that we are loved and cared for by the God of all creation.

God has a different message for us. His message is that we are loved. We are loved with a focused, radical love. This love is so much greater than anything we can imagine, that it’s hard sometimes to believe it and learn to live in it. But, though it seems lofty, it is not. It is near and practical. Our God of love knows us completely and protects us based on what is known. He has planned for us and we are not an accident or mistake. God knows the number of our days and each day that we live He is the beating of our heart. Our part is to follow Him in the days that we have breath and life within us.

What does living like you are loved change?

  • The acceptance can help you relax and settle into who God made you
  • The assurance can help you quit comparing yourself to anyone else
  • The acknowledgment of God’s Love knowing you can help you believe that even in th hardest of days, God’s plan is leading you on your path.
  • The awareness of God’s Love can help put fear to rest.

Today’s Truth: Ephesians 1:4-5

“For he chose  us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ.”

In love he predestined us. Think about that. Some times the word predestined is not what I want to hear. Why? Because it leaves me out of the control seat. But, being predestined, pre-planned, designed…for God’s purpose is the biggest piece in the puzzle of God’s love for me. This means, that he will be sure to provide all that is needed to get me to his desired end. I may not be the one in control, but I can trust my life to the God who is.

How about you?  What would living loved look like to you today?

Today’s Prayer

Father, I thank you that you chose me. I thank you that you love me. I thank you that you have plans for me, determined, predestined, designs for my days.

Does every “event” in our lives have to be eventful?

Posted to: What if?, spiritual growth

The gurney was comfortable, the blankets were warm and the nursesheartfest were nice. As my IV line fed me drugs to slow my heart rate, one of the nurses joked about not wanting an Event that day. The last thing she wanted was a heart to flat-line in a routine test! It made me laugh, and then made me think.

Prior to going to the hospital yesterday morning, I wrote the blog on: Living Like We are Well. As, I laid there vulnerable to the IV in my arm giving me drugs that I knew nothing about, by people who I knew nothing about, I didn’t feel like I was living like a well person. Most well people I know aren’t hooked up to an IV drip to lower their heartbeat to prepare for a heart scan.

But, as I caught myself at peace and even realized I giggled about not causing an Event for them by flat-lining….( it was hospital humor, really)

I realized in that moment that though I was in my own Event of sorts, I was living like I was well, and it wasn’t eventful for me, it was peaceful. This is growth, and that was my gift and thrill of the day! Living Like I was Well!

We have been speaking of the things we go through, good or bad, as our “event”. We have discovered that it’s not the event itself, but what we think about that event, that creates the problems for us. In other words it’s what we believe about each and every event is what counts.

When we believe lies, negative messages, are too tired to think, or are emotionally and spiritual empty ourselves….we just might have a flat-line event of our spiritual condition!

In that place almost all our events, encounters, situations, trials, and daily struggles become EVENTFUL.

  • Event…good or bad
  • Belief…what we think about the event that happened
  • Feelings…what we emotionally feel based on what we think and believe
  • Actions…how we walk out our beliefs based on what we feel and think is true.

Event+Lies +Wrong Beliefs+Drama in our Emotional Self=Eventful Stressful Situations.

Today’s Truth: 2 Peter 1:3-5

“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge, and to knowledge, self-control, and to self-control, perseverance…”

We don’t have to live in Eventful Dramatic Lives. We can, in Christ, live in the peace that passes understanding.  We can participate in the divine nature by his very great and precious promises becoming our belief system, and our line of defense when events present themselves. We can live by a new equation.

Event+Biblical Truth+ Growing practice in truth+ Faith in God= Peaceful Situation.

This is how we live like we are well. Again, I am not just speaking of the physical, but the emotional and spiritual as well.

Oswald Chambers said, ” Let us live with the patient power of knowing that the God of Israel goes before us. Our yesterdays hold broken and irreversible things for us. It is true that we have lost opportunities that will never return, but God can transform this destructive anxiety, into a constructive thoughtfulness for the future. Let the past rest, but let it rest in the embrace of Christ. Step out into the invincible future with Him.”

Today’s Prayer

Lord, teach me to live in your divine and precious promises. Show me how to intentionally hold on to them, getting them from head to heart.  I want to live by a peaceful equation so that life is less dramatic so that my daily events, people and things I have no control over, become less eventful. I realize it all goes back to what I believe, how I view things, and what I think Renew my mind in your truth. I love you and long to reflect you in a life that is living like she is well, every day, no matter what.
